The prescription may require you to wear glasses only for reading. If this is the case then selecting a heavier weighted frame might be okay. If you have to wear them all the time a lighter frame may be a wiser option. All day wear can cause fatigue on the bridge of your nose and around your ears and then we tend to not wear the glasses as much as we need to.
When shopping for eyeglasses it is also important to keep in mind that you will be offered upgrades to your lenses. These upgrades can add a lot of additional expense that is often unnecessary. Some of the items such as anti-reflective coating, or transitional lenses for going from inside to out can be helpful and worth the investment but buyer beware that you don't overspend on the bells and whistles if you don't really need them. Check your local paper for sales, often you can get additional discounts on your frames or lenses if you stay alert to the current sales being offered.
Research a little on the lens options that are presented to you. As with any sales situation the staff will try and up sell you on many features. It can be as taxing as buying a car if you let it get out of control. Many of the options are just "bells and whistles" and are not needed to improve your vision experience with your new eyeglasses. Some though will make a difference in that experience. Knowing ahead of time what they are offering can save you valuable dollars.
